The replacement of the existing timber rail spur bridge with a single span precast bridge was required to maintain distribution from the Maryvale Mill which despatches a large proportion of its paper production in containers predominately by rail. The traffic loading on this rail spur line has increased significantly as a consequence of the increased Mill production output over the years. Given the criticality of the rail spur to the Maryvale Mill operations, the design and construction work had to be based on achieving minimum disruption to rail movement operations to and from the Maryvale Mill.
Debtech assisted Australian Paper throughout the planning and scope definition phases to ensure the contract included scheduling for the work to be completed during a shutdown of the Mill. Debtech services included preparation and issue of D&C contract; tender evaluation and negotiation; and contract administration services.
