Good for the Environment
Debtech is proud to continue providing Project and Contract Management services for Amcor on their new Botany Paper Mill project in Sydney NSW.
The new Paper Mill, which uses 100% recycled waste paper, will produce savings in energy and water and will improve the environmental performance of the facility. The new Mill is designed specifically to minimise environmental impacts such as noise, odour and water discharges.
Metso is supplying the new machine and all main process equipment and control systems for the Mill. Leighton Contractors have been awarded a $110 million contract by Amcor for the design and construction of civil and building infrastructure.
Under the contract, Leighton Contractors will design and construct the paper machine building, stock preparation building, product store waste paper yard, mill offices, control room and other ancillary works.
The new Mill replaces the two existing papermaking machines (No. 7 and No. 8) at the site, increasing paper making capacity from the current 250,000 tonnes per year to around 345,000 tonnes per year.
At the beginning of January 2011 the project moved into stage 5 and construction was begun on the foundation of the new paper machine. The new Mill is expected to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2012.
Debtech will continue working closely with Amcor to ensure the successful completion of the Project.
