A Water Wise Future

As we all know, Australia faces increasing challenges in relation to water management in all aspects of our lives.  Many of Debtech clients are looking at better ways to manage their water use – be it reduced consumption, reuse or recycling.

Debtech are currently assisting the Ivanhoe Grammar School with the contract management of new Multi-sports Field project partially funded by the BER National Pride program.  The project includes construction of 1 ML dam under the playing surface for rainwater harvesting to assist with landscape irrigation and other water saving measures.

Water from the schools stormwater drainage system is diverted into to the new dam for storage.  Transfer pumps will be installed to redirect water to various holding tanks around the campus for irrigation and other water reuse systems.

The dam itself is a self supporting structure being completely filled with rock and lined with a waterproof membrane.  Water is stored within the void space of the rock.  The rock provides a perfect foundation for the playing surface to be installed above.

The recycling system is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2010.
